2013~ The Year of Yes

Happy New Year to one and all.  Though I am not new to blogging, I am new to blogging on eBlogger.
I love when each new year begins, full of hope and everyone gets to start with a clean attitude slate.  Many start out with their New Years Resolution.  Some resolve to lose weight, some resolve to be less judgemental of others, some resolve to get back in shape, and some resolve not to make any resolutions to avoid the guilt of breaking them.

This year I have a few goals which include applying for my teaching certificate, landing a summer school teaching job, and landing a regular teaching job in a school with a high population of English Language learners.  I recently finished my 3 year New Years Resolution of finishing up my teaching degree.  It was a long haul, it was intense, it was difficult but it was worth every ounce of blood, sweat and tears.

This year, instead of making resolutions, I am calling 2013 my "Year of Yes".  I still haven't formed in my head exactly what "The Year of Yes" means exactly but I can tell you that it will be a year of stretching and growing.  It will be a year of saying yes to people and things I have said no to in the 3 years since I've been back in college.

The year of yes will consist of going on dates with people I would probably have said no to in the past, going out with friends and expanding my social life in ways that I haven't before.  I will start volunteering with an organization close to my heart but will challenge me to stretch and grow in ways I have a feeling I have yet to realize.  Hospice is my volunteer organization of choice.  I have chosen it because they made a huge impact while my mother was in their care in her last weeks of life.  Instead of them being an organization that is associated with death, I have realized more than anything that Hospice is more associated with life and quality of life and I would like to pay forward the positive things Hospice brought in to my mother's house when she was dying.

The year of yes means that I am going to challenge myself to do things I either haven't been interested in the past or haven't had the opportunity to do.  The year of yes is still forming, growing and will change throughout 2013.

Yes, there is much hope in my life right now.  I graduated a few weeks ago from college, I ended a relationship I knew wasn't right for me and the difficult time with G, my son is past us and I hope will be in long range history thanks to medication changes for him.  He is on the right track and I have many things to be thankful and hopeful for in 2013.  I hope this is the case for you, too.

One of my goals for this year is to try to blog daily.  Of course I know this is a tall order, so I am going to shoot for 4 days a week.

I hope you enjoy the things I add to this blog. YES, my first blog is finished!

Blessings,

Lisa
